Hey i just bought a skimmer that was advertised as a 250s but when i opened the box it had 2 pumps in it instead of the 1 pump I was expecting to see. Is this normal was i upgraded to the SWC 250s2 for free?!

This is a pretty big freebee if so, thats why i'm wondering.

well, they either made a mistake and sent you the 2 pump model on accident,
or they are closing out the 250s cones and dont care.
it's SWC's first cone, so i suspect they are just selling out the remaining stock and arent going to make it anymore.
my advice to you??
sell both of those sicce psk 2500's while they are new and put the askoll pump on the skimmer body.

Will the askoll produce a much better foam then the two sicce's, not sure on the wattage draw of the askoll but the two sicce's are very minor IMO. He said he was upgrading my order but i didnt think he would send the 250s2.

Is there such a thing as over skimming? my tank will only be around 300g total volume. Thats another reason that i dont know if i need to upgrade the pump to the single larger unit.

thanks for the advice skimmy!

the askoll pump is dead quiet if thats important, and absolutely no start up issues with the askoll,
and the foam it produces is a bit more uniform and stable. it wont actually give you too much more power, just peace of mind.
the sicce psk 2500 pump is well known to be finneky even with the best pinwheel/venturi combo at start up, and they can make a bit of noise sometimes.
another altern ative would be to upgrade the pumps to sicce psk 1000 pumps, they are actually despite their numeric name, more powerful than sicce psk 2500 pumps, and they have a digitally controlled start up, better magnet and hermetically sealed high quality motors.

Thanks! I am more so wanting to keep the power bill down than the noise :) I will be insulating the inside of the stand with insulation foam to reduce noise.
