      I thought we could do a little write up on "How lighting effects corals" just to give folks a general idea on why corals need light and how different lighting effects your corals. So lets have at it!

      So when one looks at corals and their colors we have to look at it in two separate sections, the first is not so much the coral but the zooxanthellae contained within them. The zoox are basically a form of algae called dinoflagellates (and yes the same kind as the nasty ones)

      Chelmon rostratus (Copperbanded Butterflyfish)





      One of the most exotic looking yet inexpensive and readily available Butterflyfish is the Chelmon rostratus (Copperbanded Butterflyfish). They have a large natural range covering the Indo-west Pacific. Most tank specimens are in the 5-7” range and need a tank of at least 75 gallons with ample liverock, in which they spend most of their time inspecting every nook and cranny with their elongated mouth looking for an easy snack. While they may require special attention in regards to acclimation, diet and water quality their endearing personality makes it well worth the effort. ...

      I thought we could take a little look at Phosphate/Phosphorus and how we see it and deal with it in our tanks. So hopefully I can put some info out their with out screwing it up to bad.

      Ok so when we look at Phosphate we have to look at the number of different ways it is in our tanks.
