Tell us about yourself:

I am 38 years old and have lived most of my life in Washington state. I'm married to a great lady, have two super children and a 4 month old grandson. I'm a self employed automotive technician with too many hobbies. Fast motorcycles, woodworking, reef keeping and flyfishing.

How did you get involved in the saltwater hobby?

This one is easy. My wife and I made a trip to the hardware store in 1994. We spotted a store called Aqua Images. After spending a few hours in the store we left with a 43 gallon aquarium, all the goodies, a few Damsels, an empty wallet and alot of bad advice.

Tell us about your tank?

My current tank is a Diy 80+ gallon flat back hex. This was my first experience with acrylic. Its actually a beautiful tank dominated by SPS frags and clams. This tank has been a real learning experience. I've experimented with it from top to bottom. Now that it is thriving, it has sprung a leak. I'm in the process of setting up a completely new system.

How did you become involved with Reef Frontiers?

This is also an easy question. The Mojo signature banner! I stumbled onto Mike's link one day while surfing. Usually I would only look around. The attitude of the Reef Frontiers members was a supprising change from what I've seen. I decided to join in.

What is your reef keeping philosophy?

Keep it simple! This hobby is tough enough without over complicating things like feeding, lighting and filtration.

What is your dream tank?

I live in a small house and plan on staying there, so I guess I would have to say my new 110 gallon tank would be a perfect fit. Size doesnt matter a whole lot. I think its more about how well its set up and how healthy the inhabitants are. Soon my tank will be a dream tank.

Do you have any advice for others?

I started this hobby with two left feet and no thumbs. I got loads of bad advice. We went way to fast and lost alot of animals. Go slowly and keep it simple
