      Scientific Name: Chromis dasygenys
      Max. size: 12.0 cm TL (male/unsexed)
      Environment: reef-associated; non-migratory; marine; depth range 2 - 12 m
      Distribution: Western Indian Ocean: known only from Delagoa Bay, Mozambique to Durban, South Africa. Reported as likely at Seychelles but Randall and van Egmond 1994 believe otherwise.
      Morphology: Dorsal spines (total): 13; Dorsal soft rays (total): 12-13; Anal spines: 2; Anal soft rays: 12-13
      Biology: Inhabits inshore rocky reefs and weed beds.
      Aquarium Care:These are schooling and peaceful damselfishes, and basically an open water feeder. They should be kept in schools/shoals of three or more. Feed a varied diet a few times daily. Meaty foods such as vitamin-enriched brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, flake foods high in vegetable matter, and other quality frozen foods are the preferred foodstuffs
