      Scientific Name: Elacatinus oceanops
      Max. size: 5.0 cm TL (male/unsexed)
      Environment: reef-associated; marine; depth range 1 - 45 m
      Distribution: Western Central Atlantic: southern Florida to Texas (USA) southward to Belize.
      Morphology: Dorsal spines (total): 7-8; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-13; Anal spines: 1; Anal soft rays: 9-12. Electric blue stripe from front of eye to end of caudal fin. Pale stripe in front of each eye, not reaching tip of snout.
      Biology: Inhabits coral heads. Removes ectoparasites from other fishes. Minimum depth reported from. Has been reared in captivity
      Aquarium Care: Prefer a water temperature between 71 to 82°F (21 - 28°C), yet can withstand water temperature into mid 60's and into the high 80's. Natural diet consists mainly of zooplankton. Requires a meaty diet, i.e., enriched brine shrimp, mysis, finely chopped fish or shrimp flesh, and other various frozen carnivore foods, with one or two feedings per day. They should not be housed with aggressive fishes such as groupers, dottybacks, triggerfishes or aggressive angelfishes.
