      Environment: reef-associated; marine ; depth range 2 - 30 m
      Distribution: Indian Ocean: Red Sea and East Africa eastward to western Thailand and Sumatra, Indonesia.
      Morphology: Dorsal spines (total): 3; Dorsal soft rays (total): 30-35; Anal spines: 0; Anal soft rays: 27-30. Narrow white margin round caudal fin; live specimens bluish or violet.
      Biology: Inhabits coral-rich seaward reef slopes. Occurs singly. Feeds on sponges, algae, crustaceans and small invertebrates
      Aquarium Care:Has a temperature range of 72 - 83°F (22 - 28°C) and has a natural diet of sponges, algae, and small benthic crustaceans. Requires a meaty diet, including fortified brine shrimp, mysis, chopped fish or shrimp flesh, and meaty type frozen carnivore foods with two or three feedings per day
