      Scientific Name: Chaetodon auripes
Max. size: 20.0 cm TL (male/unsexed)
      Environment: reef-associated; non-migratory; marine
Distribution: Western Pacific = Japan to Taiwan. Reported from the Maldives Islands.
Morphology: Dorsal spines (total): 12; Dorsal soft rays (total): 23-24; Anal spines: 3; Anal soft rays: 18-19. Often confused with C. collare. The broad white band behind the eyeband in both species contributed much to the confusion. Tip of caudal fin is transparent.
Biology: Inhabit rocky reefs with algae and coral. Solitary or in groups. Feed on benthic invertebrates. Oviparous.
Aquarium Care: This species has a medium survivability in the captive environment. In the wild, this fish feeds heavily on sea anemones, but also eats hard coral polyps, polychaete worm tentacles, filamentous algae and invertebrate eggs.
