      Scientific Name: Nemateleotris helfrichi
Max. size: 6.0 cm TL (male/unsexed)
      Environment: reef-associated; marine; depth range 25 - 90 m
Distribution: Western Pacific: eastwards to the Tuamoto Islands, north to the Ryukyu Islands; Palau, the Marianas and Marshalls in Micronesia.
Morphology: Dorsal spines (total): 7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 29-31; Anal spines: 1; Anal soft rays: 26-28
Biology: Occurs in relatively deep water. Found over small patches of sand, rubble, or hard open bottoms of steep seaward reefs. Rarely found in less than 40 m and frequently occurs in pairs.
Aquarium Care: Once established, this species is hardy, and failry tolerant of conspicifics. Does best when kept with peaceful tankmates, as they are easily intimidated into starvation. Provide plenty of live rock and substrate. Cover openings and crevices on the tank to prevent jumping out. Feed a varied diet, includeing shaved or finely chopped fresh or frozen seafood, frozen perparations for carnivores, frozen and live brine shrimp, and mysid shrimp. A refugium may be beneficial.
