For Those New to the Hobby

Welcome to RF! As already stated on another thread here, this section, "New To Reefkeeping" is one of the newest forums here at RF targeted at helping out those new to the hobby. Whatever your needs may be (whether it be, for example, general info on how to start up and maintain a saltwater aquarium, answers to questions you just can't seem to find anywhere else etc. etc.) and you are new to the hobby altogether, this is the place for you!

I have been given the wonderful priviledge of moderating this forum...What that means is, it is not necessarily my primary purpose to just keep a close eye on things here, but more importantly, to do what I enjoy doing best, and that is welcoming new members to the forum to make them feel comfortable about posting here and asking questions, and also, helping out those that need friendly help ASAP! Feel free to ask any questions you may have pertaining to the hobby without fear of being laughed at or ignored for having what some people may think are "stupid questions". No questions are stupid here...We've all had the same questions at one point or the other. This hobby should be a fun learning experience and that is what RF tries to shoot for so if there is anything you can think of that would help make the experience for you more enjoyable or beneficial, please don't hesitate to ask.

In the meantime, dig into to the valuable resources you have infront of you and learn as much as you can about the hobby! The Reef Frontiers Resource Library which, Mojoreef, Scooterman, NaH20, Maxx, Curtswearing as well as a few others have contributed a lot of their time into building up for us all, is a great place to start! Also, keep in mind, that there are definately (as they say) "more than one way to skin a cat in this hobby" BUT you need to figure out what methods/approaches fits you best before just diving in and setting up a tank. Patience is the "key" to success in this hobby and the only way to accomplish that is to ask tons of questions, do lots of reading, and research all you can about the hobby beforehand. Good luck!!
