    Livestock Guarantee-In Store Purchases

    We guarantee our livestock for 24 hours. We will also replace an animal for our cost, if it dies during the second day in your possession. We will need your receipt, the body (or skeleton) and a separate water sample from your aquarium within 48 hours. If it is not possible to get back to the store within 48 hours please freeze the body and call us to let us know what has happened. The water chemistry may not be the same by the time you get us a sample but we would still like to test it. We reserve the right to void our warranty in the event the aquarium water test results are bad. We will, however, consider each case individually. Our guarantee is limited to store credit for the original purchase price. Living livestock may only be returned for full credit within 48 hours because of compatibility issues. We will take back healthy, resalable animals for store credit only. We reserve the right to withhold credit until the animal has resold.

    Corals/Fish/Rock For Store Credit-

    There are times when Barrier Reef will give store credit for healthy fish, corals, and live rock. This is by appointment only. Sending us digital photos (info@barrierreefaquariums.com) prior to requesting a credit appointment will improve the chances that we will find a need for your organism(s). We cannot accept every animal presented. Corals and fish must be healthy, colorful and something we can resell within a reasonable amount of time. In most instances, credit will be given once we sell the item brought in. Please keep in mind credit will be given based on what we would buy the item for at wholesale.

    Merchandise Return Policy-

    Dry Goods may be returned in its original packaging with a receipt only. If you have lost your receipt but can provide a credit card statement or date of purchase we can reprint a copy of your receipt. Returns or exchanges may only be made within 30 days of the original purchase date. Some items require a 15% restocking fee. No returns or exchanges on aquariums, special ordered items, or customized merchandise. Light bulbs may not be returned. In the rare case a bulb does not fire right out of the package we will exchange it for a new one. With the manufacturer’s approval, defective lights may be exchanged within 30 days. If you are not happy with the Kelvin or color of your new light purchase we will exchange it within 48 hours as long as you have the original packaging. We reserve the right to consider lighting returns/exchanges on a case-by-case basis. We are able to honor most manufacturers’ warranties for at least 30 days. However, some companies require the consumer to deal directly with them in order to repair or replace defective merchandise. We will assist you in getting your problem resolved with the manufacturer as quickly as possible. Please examine aquarium and furniture purchases carefully. Removing these items from our premises expresses your acceptance of the aquarium and/or furniture in good condition. All manufacturers’ warranties still apply, but Barrier Reef will not be held liable for damage that is not noted in our store. In the unlikely event of aquarium failure, Barrier Reef is not liable for manufacturer’s defects and will not be held responsible for catastrophic failure and related damages. When you purchase an aquarium, please check and verify that your homeowners or renters insurance covers damage caused by aquarium failure and contact the manufacturer about their warranty’s to learn what they cover.

    Until further notice, we need the option to offer call backs on weekend water testing. When its busy, we will take your contact info and your water sample and call you back with the results before the end of the day. If its not busy, or you don't mind waiting, we'll test as quickly as we can. We have had a few times where we are backed up and free water testing is consuming a lot of time. We don't want to have to charge for testing so we need this flexibility. During the week we usually have enough time to test on the spot.
