    My 120 Gallons Of Paradise

Well almost paradise!... Figured id start a thread for my Oceanic 120-48x24x25. Upgrading from my 40 acrylic and cant wait to get the build done so i can start cycling tank to accept livestock! I am SO stoked to 3 times volume to let my coral and livestock grow for years to come(starting to run out of room in the 40). i will be running one 400w Mh to start with well as the led actinic supplement i built. the sump i am still going to have a bit of work to do but i am looking forward to that phase of the project.

I have just started building the stand and am done with the big stuff. Still need to throw on some plywood to finish it up the top bottom and sides. I am planning on having a removable front and R side for access for cleaning and maintenance for sump/phosban/carbon reactor ect. I left the braces out on the right side of the stand so i can slide sump out at later date if need be. Still TONS to do but am looking forward to it! let me know what you think!

    More progress to come!

The dog is almost as excited about this tank as i am!

any ideas on keeping the refugium in the sump?

Your stand looks a bit overkill.LOL
I sure hope the 4x4s you used dont start to twist and bow. You will find that 4x4s are cut from the center of the log. Unfortunately that is the most unstable part of the log. I also have some concerns about racking of the stand if it is not sheeted with 1/2'' plywood.
I dont want to be a Davey downer, I just dont want to see your Paradise end up watering your floor.

I agree with you on the stand peppie, my plan was to use 3/4 or half inch plywood on the back and left top/bottom side of stand, hoping to develop a plan to have removable front and right side for ease of cleaning. i was hoping by using 4x4's the stand would be completely over built and i wont have to worry about watering my thirsty carpet haha.

Big Box stores also carry a wide range of Simpson Ties. They are galvanized plates that you can use to connect the 4x4s to help prevent the racking. Just a thought.

You could build a false front and side that just slides infront of the stand and is held in place with magnets. This wouldd give full access to the front and side. Just pull it out of the way when you need under the tank.

Nice Start Fishy, the std 120's are such great size tanks to play with in aquascaping and will definitely give you some more room from the 40 to take advantage of. Have fun with it!

    Cheers, Todd
