    Kim's 75

    Hi Everyone -

Welcome to my 75 gallon reef tank thread!

I've had a 36 gallon bowfront running for a few years now, and have decided to go a little bit bigger while I venture into having a sump this time around. Even though it's a standard 75 gallon tank, I custom ordered it with black silicone.

Then I had holes drilled and bulkheads installed for the overflows and return lines, and had the back painted black. The two holes in the middle will have 90 elbows that can be rotated to the desired amount of overflow.

My husband spent many hours making me a new cabinet out of maple that's big enough for a 40 gallon breeder sump below.

The top has yet to be laminated, and is slightly oversized so there will be some space next to the tank for testing, feeding, etc. Here is the (almost) finished cabinet, and the plumbing that we've been able to do so far. The cabinet really turned out beautifully. We differed on how to stain it, and I wasn't sure I liked it at first. This thing is freakin' huge and heavy!

Thanks for checking out my new tank thread . . . more to come as we get the top laminated and get the rest of the equipment.

    Kim

I have to admit, I have been around this hobby for a few years, and I have never ever heard a tank called sexy and/or hot?

    Great looking tank/stand!

Although you do want to stain insides as well (unless you already did and it's something transparent). Saltwater spray/spils etc. are not very nice to naked wood (not even to a stained wood, but whatcha gonna do).

The insides are sealed with a clear water repellent. I wanted to leave it light colored in there to see better. Yup, saltwater has certainly done a number on the outside of my other stained cabinet.
