    28 gallon CFI build

So I won a CFI 28 gallon tank this summer and I plan on using this as a Coldwater tank. It's 3/8" acrylic and look really slick! I'm thinking it's going to be a flow through tank off the lobster tank. And house either select Nems and the one spot fringe head and painted greenling or maybe bay pipefish and eel grass/seagrass. Just some thoughts I'm having

Here is a pic of it.

It's missing the overflow. I'll be taking it in to get it installed in the next week or so.

Well I finally dropped off the tank and have the overflow installed. The drain will be a 1" durso with a 3/4" emergency pipe. With two return pipes coming out each side of the overflow. Here is a diagram drawn up by jason of CFI.

I can't wait to get this wet and filled with a couple lumpsuckers among other things

So I am buying the plumbing and hooking up the chiller, overflow and return plumbing. Filter and power heads. It should be ready for the Bob Moore in the next couple of days

I t's all put together. And it's wet test was at the Bob Moore! I don't suggest doing that but it worked out perfect. There is plenty of flow and the octopus loves it. He is out and about checking out the tank. I also have some blue and orange bats stars and several crabs as future dinner. so I also have some California muscle that I'm going to be using for filtration also along with the internal filters I have down in the sump. I also added two Black rockfish fish from the lobster tank. After talking to the people at the Seattle aquarium, that's what they keep with their octopus. They say it's because rockfish are actually a harder target for the octopus to eat so that's what I'm trying with the Black rockfish to see the how that works out. So far it's perfect. But I have a tank full of shore crab right now

Make sure to talk with the marine biologists. And understand that their experience with the animals is not with closed systems for the most part. Seattle aquarium is one large flow through system. With the exception of the tropical tanks. And no I didn't tell them about the lumpsuckers. I'm just gonna spring it on them gorilla style the lumpsuckers are gonna be in a satellite system attached to the lobster tank cuz they are so tiny right now.

Well the octopus died a while back. I had a couple temp swings due to controller malfunction. And some parameter swings. The octo wasn't supposed to be in this tank more than a day but due to several plans changing he stayed In my tank. Eventually the rock fish nipped at him during feeding time and he never acted the same again.
But now this tank has seen several changes including a generous supply of macro courtesy of spring time conditions in the sound. I also moved over several starfish and a crecent gunnel. And of course I have pics

And a top down view of the blue and orange japanese batstar

So this tank has been reborn! I have put a lot of work in on this one. I have a lot of new equipment such as a protein skimmer and media reactor. And reef lighting to boot!! Anyway here are some pics of it last night after stocking it.
