So, does anyone here have experience with tanks this small?

Tanks this size are best for advanced hobbyist. The reason why is the nutrient swings can get you in trouble fast because of the lack of volume in the tank. If you are going to attempt it, go with an easy to care for nano fish like a clown goby and easy to care for small corals like zoas. Most of these tanks lack protein skimmers and rely on rock as filtration and changing the water on a weekly basis (as it is easy to do at this size).
