Pertaining to live fish (and as a clownfish nut...)

CB = Captive bred
TR = Tank raised
WC = Wild caught

ORA = Oceans, Reefs, and Aquariums
IPSF = Indo-Pacific Sea Farms

There are abbreviations for most of the clownfish species, and if you want we can put those, too. To me the above are the big missing abbreviations to the list by Curt.

I would also add these to the list:

Locations, origins:

SI = Solomon Island(s)
PNG = Papua New Guinea

These are used many times in speaking of wild-caught True Perculas (Amphiprion percula) , with the Onyx usually harvested in PNG, while the normal true percs are usually off SI.

Some that came up tonight while chatting.

GSP: Green star polyps: Pachyclavularia violacea, Briareum violacea or Clavularia sp.
GSM: Gold Stripe Maroon Clown: Premnas biaculeatus
CB: Copper Band Butterfly: Chelmon rostratus
PBT: Powder Blue Tang: Acanthurus leucosternon

Also, I finished coding the definitions search for chat tonight and added all of the those we have compiled so far in the library. I will work to sort through these this week and add them. Out of personal preference I may only add reef related definitions to the chat search as I would like to keep it on topic. If anyone sees a reason why I should add those that are not reef keeping specific, please let me know.

To use this new function in chat you type !Define and then the acronym you wish to define.

Example: !Define IMAC

I have a list of 8500 Acronyms that I use at work. I was gunna post just the A's but even that looked completely rediculus in the post box. Around here, your lible to hear to real words as often as a calculus class uses actual numbers.

I saw BB used as if someone was going to set up a BB tank. Anyone know what I'm talking about, or am I on crack?

LOL...My tank is bb (bare bottom). That's what it is usually meant here when you see it and not someone "streaking":p
