Yes, and it depends. LOL mine is from a tiny little bitty piece, it has grown tremendously. It is shiny some days like glass, somedays it is dull, some days it puts out little octo tencles. It has places where it is smooth and just covers the rock, and it has places where it is making lumpy ridges. I got it from the guy who owns the lfs, he has two enormous colonies. One is in a rotating tank, it is like flat fingers sticking up, the other is in a open top surge tank, it is encrusting it is the size of a bowling ball. Mine has growth that can be seen every day. The white part of its advace when blown on with a turkey baster is soft and can be seen to move and spring back when the water pressure stops. I will go and take a pic, now. Steve

Mine is smooth. But at times it looks like it has goose bumps.
It looks kinda like my skin does at time. Every now and than it sheds and becomes really reflective purple.

It grows rapidly for me and I have had great luck with this coral. I have them under compacts and at one point VHO. I found that under MH it turns a dark leather looking tan. With less lighting it's a lighter color.

Some say it's a easy coral to keep and for some say it's hard.

I have a bunch of pics on this link. I hope this helps you in some ways. If you would like to know anything else please let me know.

I believe I have the Blue Ridge coral in my tank... It was a hitchhiker on some Rock... If its the stuff that I have its Encrusting, Shiny and Smooth...

Very odd but I guess it was a semi cool hitchhiker...

Mike I have one

I have a pink colored One Mike, It Is smooth and shinny with a few bumps on the outer edges of the coral. What is neat about mine is that it has these feelers that kind of look like Micro feathers That come out during mid day...
Let me know if a picture would help...Jeff

Horrible photos, my sony will not no matter how I try take a good picture where that coral is. I think it gets too many distracting things to focus on. I dont know. I love sony but this camera has been a real bummer for tank pictures. Oh well here it is, it started from a piece one half the size of my pinky fingernail. It was tiny. six months growth. It is awesome. I really like to watch it grow.

Hey thanks guys. Mine is like a high gloss pinkish color, until the polyps come out, then it turns to a duller sheen. I thought it was kind of weird that it was so shinny, it almost looked like it was waxing.

I have a piece of the one of your mike, from 2 years ago. It does the same thing, and has been a extreme slow grower.

Here's mine. It's an easy to keep, very hardy coral. It does not posess a very powerful sting and cannot defend itself from other corals very well.

Nice larger piece Kevin ... recently got a frag of this myself too - acts quite a bit like Mojo's.

It's great to see how nice it will be given grow-out :)
