Does anyone know of any sources for plans or part lists for building your own lighting fixtures?

Well what kind of lighting were you thinking of exactly? I know of a few sites on the web to set up your own lighting.

This one is for MH http://aquarium.union.rpi.edu/articles/DIY_MH.html

this one is kinda helpful for vho and pc that can be run from the same ballast available from home depot http://www.thereeftank.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=14020

I hope that will get you going in the right direction

Thanks for your response.

You asked which type of lighting I'm interested in: I thought I'd open it up to any DIY lighting options/plans/projects/sources etc that someone might know about and would like to share.

I'm a newbie. I haven't yet decided what kind of lighting I want. I'm just starting to put together a 150 gallon tank and I'm a bit "put out" by the price tag of some of "fully assembled"/"packaged" lighting solutions out there. I know there's money to be saved by building/assembling lighting myself. I'd rather spend money on more live rock etc, than have a pretty factory assembled lighting fixture.

You can save some money by using a retro kit rather than a prebuilt package deal. I think http://www.hellolights.com/ has got some good deals on lights. You can also watch the big boards (and here too) for people selling lighting setups. That will save you even more money.
