Do you think my tank can go one week without skimming?

My tank is pretty stable at the moment. I have a friend that wants to borrow my skimmer. I told him if I did he could only use it for one week. If I have any issues within that week I want skimmer back imediately. What are your oppinions on this? Do you think this is a big mistake or do you think this might be good for my system also? Any answers appreciated...
Thanks in Advance,
Ed

You well probably get a thousand differant answers to that question. Are you running a true DSB or are you BB or parts there of. You have a high bio load with 5 tangs and all that rock, don't forget that life rock makes detritus also.

I have a very little sand bed. I have maybe a inch or two of live sand. My sleeper gobie seems to stir that up quit often. I forgot to tell you that I run poly filters in my sump. I often switch them out. I think I have enough criters to feed the wrasse and gobie for a week in my tank. The tangs I will feed a few sheets of nori every other day. I did not consider my rock exporting denitrius. Thanks

Keep clean poly filter & run carbon, you will be ok, unless you have a major boi-load but even then people go without a skimmer.

Thanks Scooterman,
I was kinda hoping the same. I do have lots of coral, I am hoping my Xenia and clams with help export some nitrates? I have lots of highly activated phospate free carbon. My Xenia is going crazy as in most cases. I will just let Xenia run rampant for a week.

Ed you should be okay, 1-2'' is not much, you are depending on that skimmer alot, but its better then BB. I swear by poly filters and they well catch alot of detritus and you can rinse daily. You could also cut back on the feeding a little for the week.

Wow, I love the positive influence.
I appreciate all the heads up, Thanks. I am listening to all comments. My fish are all really healthy now. I was told with the colony of tangs I have I should be feeding a sheet of Nori a day. But I think they can go about 3 days with out food? That is my goal.

Ed I have a farely large pwdr blue 6" in a 75 gal with a few other small fish, but anyway i feed him about 2"x2" piece everyday and the clowns get some of that and the canary wrasse and he is fat as can be, they also get fed a little mysis or clam pieces{rimnents from feeding the copper band in the other tank}. Boy a sheet a day seems really alot.

I need to measure my tangs. They must be part termite. I wish I could show you. They are always coming to eat when I put a sheet of Nori in...They smell it I think? Its like a little parade. The tangs eat like buzz saws. The Gobie pops out says hey dude what for supper? The six line wrasse lurks around toward bottom waiting for little morsels. I have a pair of cleaner shrimp that swim to the holder and clean the small leftovers off my hanger just like they are saying......Thats all folks...We will see you tommarow...Do I like my tank or what? I think I am losing it?

You know you wife likes your tank If and When doing the weekly shopping list consist of...Honey, Do you need a package of Nori?
