Lately I had been noticing that my larger feather dusters have had their tubes busted and there was no feather duster. I figured some unknown crab had come in on some new coral or something. This morning I was enjoying my beatiful tank when cold sheer terror struck me. It was like the blood in my veins had turned to ice. When I saw from a little cave two beady eyes looking at me and it claws curled neatly underneath him. He was mocking me saying "I have been here for a long time and now I am big enough for you to see me!" I had a Mandarin that had a chunk taken out of it's side once and I now think this was the culprit!

Needless to say the rock is in a pot on the stove cooking away and I believe I may have shrimp for breakfast  I am glad I caught it before it got big enough to attack my fish. If I can manage to get it out of the rock I will take specs and post them. What a way to start the morning.

I guess if you set up a tank for just them and you don't put anything in there that they can destroy I guess that's ok. But when stuff starts disappearing that's supposed to be there it's time for the mantis to go.

Angel - I almost didn't recognize you without your other avatar! Glad you were able to see it. Most hobbyists aren't so lucky, and spend many nights trying to trap them. Hope you are able to get some pics, so we can see its size.

yes kill the bastard !!! lol
Well i have one in my tank and he ate my precious little six line wrass (i'm still missing you baby lol ). I was very sad and furious because of what he did (just to the point of having a shrimp salad lol ) but then i thought about it and it's not his fault, its in his nature to eat fishes and stuff like that, so now i guess that if i ever catch him, i would just give him away to someone who could love watching him and take care of him. :)

Albert those are great pics and videos.

Nikki, I thought I'd changed the avatar to reflect something else I love. Hondas and Saltwater that's me!

The Mantis is no more. I have it in a little jar for now.
