Mntndew your tank was one of my favorites I would like to know what happened ? How did you take out the sand ? What did you do with the corals and fish while you took out the sand?

Basically my tank was crashing big time. Over a 6 month period I lost nearly all of my coral. Couldn't figure anything out. I think my sand bed stopped functioning. The final straw for me to pull the sand was a high phosphate reading about 1/2 inch from the surface into the sand. When I removed the sand there was very little activity and the sulfide zone was right near the surface (about 1/2" below the surface).

I took EVERYTHING out of the tank, rock, sand, water, fish, corals, everything ... Used holding tubs for the livestock.

Then we put it all together again with no sand and mostly new rock :)

Now I am where I am today ... and it is improving :)
