Well gang its time to see what ya all think of my closed loop before I glue it up. The top two inlets are from the sump and will be returned with a mag 12 with a squid. Sump is a 55 a 55 gallon with one overflow coming into the sump from both sides. On one side will be the skimmer the other will be a ref. and returned from the center of the sump.

Next rows are the returns on the closed loop they are 1.5 inch reduced down to 3/4th loc-line inside the tank.

Next row down is 2 pickups for the closed loop they are 1.5 inch bulkheads and also plumbed with 1.5 inch plumbing. This will be run with a ampmaster 3000. I have another ball valve to go on the return and unions to remove the pump for cleaning.

Let me know what ya think

Jeff the nineties are going to help. Is there any way you can have those lines drop straight down? The dray lines aren't a problem nor are the return lines really. But it would be nice to get a straight shot from the closed Loop pump coming up. Is there way of may be using flex PVC to make that happen?

Jeff when it comes to closed loops you are going to get the same kind of head pressure as you would if it was coming as a return line from your sump. Basically the equal amount of the line going down to the closed Loop pump cancels the fact of the line coming out of the closed Loop pump. The concept here is that the pressure of the water pushing down on the pump negates the pressure of the water going up. So no problems with head pressure in the case of the closed Loop scenario.

Ya know I'm not too sure Jeff... I used your methods :) Cramming it up the drain til it wouldn't go in further and wouldn't come out :)

Instead of bonding it can you clamp it?

Ok I added 2 ball valves to the returns. This way I can shut off the two outside ones and blow the waste etc into the water colum so it can be filtered out in the sump. This look good?

Well Mike ya owe me 10 bucks I havent glued myself to it yet hehehe
